In 1842, brewmaster Josef Groll introduced the world to the first ‘pilsner’ lager and changed beer forever. His invention soon became the most popular style of beer on the planet. We’ve brewed Pilsner Urquell in the same brewery in Plzeň, Czech Republic in the original way for over 180 years.

To give the beer its balanced flavour, malt produced from specially grown two-row barley is decocted three times over an open flame, using the local unusually soft water. Later, Saaz hops lend Pilsner Urquell its wonderful aroma and gentle bitterness.

Velkopopovický Kozel has come a long way, but this multi-award-winning Czech beer still retains its authentic, easy-drinking flavour and distinctive goat brewery mascot. The initial brewing took place in the village of Velké Popovice in 1874. The beer has become the biggest selling Czech brand worldwide. Kozel picked up numerous awards in recent years, among them the Australian Beer Award, the Czech Beer of the Year prize and the World Beer Cup.
